And he still calls himself – “Just a boy from Hingalganj, where patients travelled hours by boat, van and on foot to reach hospital.”
THE BEGINNING – 07/03/2006
Born on 07 March 2006 in Hingalganj, a remote block on India-Bangladesh border at Sundarbans edge, where electricity was once considered luxury. Father Shri Swapan Sarkar is small businessman, mother Smt. Alpona Sarkar is homemaker. Three elder sisters – Mamoni Sarkar, Sarbani Sarkar Jana W/o Indrajit Jana, Bulti Sarkar Pal – all married. He is first person from family to go abroad.
He witnessed suffering closely – neighbours carrying sick elders on boats to Basirhat or Kolkata, mothers crying, children dying preventable deaths. In Class 5 he decided: “I will become a doctor so that no one from my village dies waiting for care.”
He studied under kerosene lamp, walked 3-4 km daily to school. Result: First Boy from Class 1 to 12 continuously at Hingalganj High School – rare in school history. At age 15 in 2021, he became Madhyamik Block Champion with 671 marks. Debate, quiz, cultural champion.
His inspiration is brother-in-law Indrajit Jana – husband of Sarbani Sarkar Jana – who guided him during MBBS abroad decision and financial struggles. Mentors: Head Teacher Sadhan Ghosh, Dr. Souman Kumar Bera, Ananta Kumar Sarkar, Dr. Samir Kumar Nashkar.
