Kauvery Hospital Introduces Endoscopic Spinal Fusion in Chennai, Expanding Minimally Invasive Options for Disc Disease and Revision Spine Surgery

Kauvery Hospital, Alwarpet has advanced its spine care programme with the successful introduction of endoscopic fusion surgery, a first-of-its-kind procedure in Chennai. The technique offers a minimally invasive alternative for selected patients who require spinal fusion but may benefit from a smaller surgical footprint than traditional open surgery or standard minimally invasive surgery (MIS).

Kauvery Hospital introduces Endoscopic Spinal Fusion in Chennai

Endoscopic fusion is spinal fusion performed through a working channel and high-definition camera inserted via an incision of about 8 mm. The surgeon decompresses the affected nerves, prepares the disc space and places an interbody implant with fixation under continuous visualisation, while aiming to preserve surrounding muscle, bone and ligaments.

Unlike traditional open spine surgery, which involves larger incisions and extensive muscle dissection, and standard MIS, which still requires some tissue handling with an incision of around 20 mm, the endoscopic approach is designed to reduce tissue damage, blood loss and postoperative pain, and to support faster recovery.

The treatment is more suitable for Degenerative lumbar conditions such as disc disease, spinal stenosis and selected low-grade instability, persistent nerve-root compression causing leg pain after adequate conservative care, revision or re-do spine surgery, where previous open surgery has left scar tissue that would be riskier to operate through again. It is also recommended for selected elderly patients for whom a long open fusion would be a heavier surgical burden.

“Endoscopic procedures are also used for disc herniation and nerve compression. In certain cases, they may help avoid the need for extensive fusion by preserving the spine’s natural stability. However, the suitability is decided after clinical evaluation, imaging and assessment of overall health. The technique is not suitable for all patients. High-grade slips, some complex deformities and cases that require wide open reconstruction may still need conventional surgery,” said Dr Keerthivasan P, Senior Consultant Spine and Orthopaedic Surgeon, Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet Chennai.

In appropriately selected cases, intended benefits include a smaller wound, less muscle injury, lower blood loss, less postoperative pain, earlier walking and a shorter hospital stay.

In a recent complex case, a 56-year-old woman who had previously undergone L4–L5 open spine surgery later developed problems at the L3–L4 and L4–L5 levels. The team used an endoscopic approach to avoid operating through scarred tissue. Blood loss was less than 50 ml. The patient walked within two hours and was discharged within two days.

In another case, an elderly patient with severe leg pain due to a disc problem was treated endoscopically, avoiding a major open operation that would have required long-segment fusion. The patient recovered quickly and returned to normal activity sooner than expected.

Dr Balamurali, Head of Department – Spine and Neurosurgery, Kauvery Hospital, Alwarpet, Chennai, added, “This advancement strengthens our comprehensive spine care programme, where patient selection, precision planning and multidisciplinary coordination play a crucial role in outcomes. Endoscopic fusion is not just about smaller incisions, but about choosing the right approach for the right patient. With this technique, we are able to expand our treatment spectrum and offer personalized solutions, especially in complex and revision spine cases.”

Speaking on the technology, Dr Aravindan Selvaraj, Co-Founder and Executive Director Kauvery Hospitals said, "Our focus is to combine clinical expertise with advanced technology to deliver effective treatment while reducing the overall burden of surgery. The introduction of endoscopic fusion surgery reflects our commitment to offering less invasive options wherever appropriate."

Meril Launches HALO Stem and Latitud Revision Cup System for Anatomical Reconstruction

Meril Life Sciences, an India-based global medtech company, has announced the dual launch of its HALO (Hybrid Asian Low Offset) Stem and the Latitud Revision Acetabular Cup System, designed to provide a complete primary-to-revision ecosystem for total hip arthroplasty (THA), with a focus on anatomical reconstruction, stable fixation and consistent implant positioning.

HALO (Hybrid Asian Low Offset) Stem

The launch of HALO Stem and the Latitud Revision Cup also reflects the growing role of Indian medical device innovation in advancing orthopaedic care. For decades, the Indian orthopaedic market relied heavily on imported Western implants, which were primarily engineered around European and North American anatomical datasets. However, Indian and Asian anatomies present distinct variations including lower femoral offsets, narrower intramedullary canals, and smaller pelvic profiles. To address this mismatch and reduce reliance on Western designs, Meril collaborated with top Indian orthopaedic surgeons to pioneer a surgeon-led approach grounded in indigenous 3D CT scan morphometric studies of local patient populations.

Hip replacement in India is increasingly relevant beyond the traditional perception of it being a procedure primarily associated with older adults. Avascular necrosis (AVN), developmental conditions, trauma, inflammatory arthritis and other conditions can affect younger and active individuals, making anatomical restoration and predictable outcomes important considerations in total hip arthroplasty.

The HALO Stem has been designed with these anatomical considerations in mind. Its geometry is intended to support anatomical reconstruction while facilitating fit, alignment and load transfer. The stem incorporates a 135° neck angle, a moderate 2.5° taper angle, ribbed geometry for rotational stability and fixation, extended ribs to support fixation and facilitate removal, a polished neck and distal tip for smoother insertion, and a blasted surface for enhanced fixation.

Dr Vijay C. Bose, The Director & Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon of SIMS Hospital

Speaking about the design philosophy behind the HALO Stem, The Director & Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon of SIMS Hospital, Dr. Vijay C. Bose, said, “The development of the HALO Stem was driven by the need to address the anatomical and surgical considerations we encounter in our patients. The objective was to create a stem that supports accurate anatomical reconstruction while providing reliable primary stability and controlled insertion. The design features have been developed with the surgeon’s requirements and the patient’s anatomy in mind, with an emphasis on consistency and predictability during total hip arthroplasty.”

Dr. Krishna Kiran, The Director and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon of Medicover Hospital

Dr. Krishna Kiran, The Director and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon of Medicover Hospital said, “Addressing complex acetabular bone loss requires high intraoperative adaptability. The Latitud Revision Cup was designed to give surgeons complete anatomical freedom allowing us to tackle challenging Paprosky defects and narrow pelvic structures with confidence, while eliminating our reliance on Western revision options.”

With the launch of HALO Stem and Latitud Revision Cup, Meril continues to expand its orthopaedic portfolio with solutions focused on addressing clinical and anatomical requirements relevant to Indian and Asian patient populations.

  Satish Agarwal,
Managing Director and Narendra Agarwal, Director, Aishwaryam Group, lead the
Group’s next phase of premium residential growth.

Pune, September 12, 2026 : Aishwaryam Group, one of
Pune and PCMC’s established real estate developers is strengthening its
position as among PCMC’s largest developers, selling more than 1,800
homes annually across its portfolio. With around 1,200 agreements
registered in the last year, the Group is now entering its next phase of growth
with a sharper focus on premium and lifestyle-led residential development. The
Group’s sustained performance reflects the strength of its residential
portfolio and its ability to cater to homebuyers across different segments and
locations.

The shift marks an important evolution for
Aishwaryam. Since its inception in 2008, the Group has built significant scale
by addressing the aspirations of first-time and value-conscious homebuyers
across Pune and PCMC. Today, its portfolio extends from smart and mid-segment
housing to premium and branded residences, reflecting both the evolution of the
company and the changing aspirations of homebuyers.

Premium and lifestyle-led residences to be a major growth focus
     going forward

A key catalyst in
this transformation has been Aishwaryam’s entry into premium branded residences
in association with Fashion TV, making it a pioneer in bringing the concept
for the first time to PCMC. Its F portfolio has already crossed 750 units
sold, demonstrating growing acceptance of the brand among a more
aspirational homebuyer segment.

Satish Agarwal, Managing Director,
Aishwaryam Group, said, “Our scale has been built
over the years on customer trust, a deep understanding of PCMC and the ability
to consistently deliver homes that respond to changing aspirations. Selling
more than 1,800 homes annually gives us a strong foundation for our next
phase of growth. We now see a significant opportunity to take Aishwaryam into a
more premium space, with greater emphasis on design, lifestyle, branded
residences and differentiated experiences. Our ambition is to build on our
position as one of PCMC’s largest developers while creating a stronger premium
residential portfolio across Pune and PCMC.”

From scale to premiumisation

Aishwaryam’s residential footprint is
spread across North PCMC and West Pune, giving the Group access to some of the
region’s most active and evolving residential corridors. Its portfolio spans
Moshi, Chikhali, Tathawade, Wakad, Nigdi and other established and emerging
Pune-PCMC markets.

PCMC itself is witnessing a transition from
predominantly value-led housing towards a more diversified residential market.
Improving connectivity, employment hubs, social infrastructure and rising
consumer aspirations are creating demand for larger homes, superior amenities
and more lifestyle-oriented residential products. Aishwaryam intends to
leverage its established presence, development experience and understanding of
the PCMC consumer to capture this shift.

Narendra Agarwal, Director, Aishwaryam
Group, said, “PCMC is entering a new phase where
homebuyers are increasingly willing to move beyond functionality and value
towards better design, amenities, experiences and overall quality of life. This
creates a significant opportunity for developers with local market
understanding and execution capability. Having built scale across the region,
our strategy now is to move decisively up the value chain. Premium residences
will be an important growth engine for Aishwaryam as we create products for the
next generation of aspirational homebuyers.”

Building a diversified real estate
platform

Over the years, Aishwaryam Group has
expanded beyond residential housing into commercial development, plotted
development, infrastructure and education. This evolution reflects its broader
strategy of serving consumers across different stages of their homeownership
journey—from a family’s first home to larger, premium and lifestyle-led
residences.

The Group’s current residential portfolio
includes Aishwaryam Anand, F Premium, F Signature and 57 Elevate, spanning
value-driven, mid-segment and premium housing. Its commercial portfolio
includes Aishwaryam One developments across Chikhali, Moshi and Akurdi,
alongside premium office and retail developments. Its education footprint
includes Delhi Public School in Hinjawadi and Pune East.

When Reproductive Medicine Goes Beyond Infertility: What a Family History of Albinism Can Teach Us

For many people, reproductive medicine becomes relevant only when
conception is difficult. But sometimes the question comes much earlier: could a
condition that runs in the family be passed to a future child?

A case handled by the Institute of Human Reproduction
(IHR), Guwahati, illustrates this less familiar side of
reproductive care. A healthy young man sought medical advice not because he was
infertile, but because several members of his family had albinism. His mother
and maternal aunt were affected, while he and his brother appeared unaffected.
Later, his brother had a son with albinism.

Before planning his own family, the patient wanted to understand what
that history meant for his future children.

Understanding a Condition Hidden in the Family

The first step was not IVF or another fertility procedure. It was
understanding the family history.

Doctors examined the family pedigree and found a pattern consistent
with autosomal recessive inheritance. In such conditions, an affected person
generally inherits two disease-causing copies of a gene, one from each parent.

Advanced DNA testing then provided a clearer picture. The patient's
mother had two copies of the disease-causing genetic change and had albinism.
The patient, despite being healthy and having normal pigmentation, had one
disease-causing copy and one normal copy. He was therefore a carrier.

That distinction was central to the case. A carrier can appear
completely healthy while still being capable of passing a genetic variant to
the next generation.

Why Testing the Partner Changed the Picture

Finding that the patient was a carrier did not, by itself, establish
that his future child would have albinism. His wife's genetic status also
mattered.

She was tested and did not carry the same disease-causing genetic
change. According to the assessment provided by IHR, this meant their child
would not be expected to have this familial form of autosomal-recessive
albinism.

For each child, the couple was counselled about a 50% chance of
inheriting the father's altered gene and being a healthy carrier, and a 50%
chance of not inheriting that familial genetic change. IHR described the
expected chance of a child having this particular familial form as essentially
zero because the wife did not carry the same change.

The couple was also counselled about the possibility of rare de novo
mutations—genetic changes that can arise spontaneously rather than being
inherited from either parent.

Not Every Genetic Concern Requires IVF

Perhaps the most important part of the case was what doctors decided
not to do.

Before the partner's results were known, several reproductive options
could be discussed. These included natural conception after genetic
counselling, testing during a future pregnancy where medically indicated, and,
if there were a significant risk of an affected child, IVF with preimplantation
genetic testing for a monogenic condition, or PGT-M.

But once testing showed that the wife did not carry the same familial
genetic change, IVF and embryo testing were not considered necessary for
preventing this particular form of albinism.

Instead, the couple was advised that natural conception was an appropriate
option based on the genetic findings.

The case therefore demonstrates an important principle: access to
advanced reproductive technology does not mean that it should automatically be
used. Sometimes careful investigation can prevent unnecessary intervention.

A Multidisciplinary Reproductive Medicine Case

The assessment involved more than one area of expertise. A
reproductive medicine specialist discussed the couple's reproductive options. A
clinical geneticist or genetic counsellor helped interpret the family history,
genetic results, and implications for future children, while a genetic testing
laboratory identified and confirmed the relevant genetic change.

There were no major medical complications. The significant development
was the wife's negative result for the familial variant, which changed the
reproductive strategy from considering intervention to reassurance and natural
conception.

The eventual clinical outcome, therefore, was not a pregnancy achieved
through treatment. It was clarity.

The patient learned why he could carry the genetic change despite
being healthy, how the condition had travelled through his family, why his
wife's result mattered, and what their future children's risks could be. As
there was no fertility problem, no fertility treatment was required.

Why the Case Matters Beyond One Family

The case was later presented at a conference as an anonymised
discussion because of its educational value in genetic counselling and
reproductive medicine.

Its broader relevance lies in showing why reproductive healthcare can
begin before infertility exists. A person may be healthy and have no difficulty
conceiving, yet a strong family history of an inherited condition can raise
legitimate questions before pregnancy.

JAL Bath Fittings, one of India’s leading premium bath fittings and sanitaryware brands, has launched a new digital brand film and announced acclaimed actress Wamiqa Gabbi as its official brand ambassador, marking a significant step in the brand’s journey towards strengthening its national presence and connecting with a new generation of design-conscious Indian consumers.

Focusing on ‘Value Meets Elegance’, the new digital brand film follows Rahul and Priya, an urban, progressive working couple caught in the everyday tug-of-war between style and sensibility. Priya is the queen of experience and aesthetics, always drawn to what looks and feels the best; Rahul is the eternal value-seeker, forever weighing what’s truly worth the money. Their story plays out through a series of relatable misadventures an overpriced coffee that costs them a bomb, a sofa that promised comfort but delivered regret, and a speaker that sounded better in the store than it ever did at home. Every purchase becomes a small tug-of-war between Priya’s love for beauty and Rahul’s instinct for practicality, until their hunt finally leads them to JAL, where they discover both ‘value’ and ‘aesthetics’ for their bathroom fittings and sanitaryware. For Rahul and Priya, JAL resolves the very dilemma they have been living with proving that value and elegance don’t have to be a compromise, they can go hand in hand.

The digital film is live across the brand’s social media platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Speaking on the announcement, Mr. Siddhant Kapoor, Director Marketing, JAL Bath Fittings, said, “Wamiqa embodies everything JAL stands for: quality, elegance, and a quiet confidence that doesn't need to announce itself. We are thrilled to welcome her to the JAL family and look forward to building something truly meaningful together. With the launch of our new digital film, we are excited to bring this association to life and showcase the shared values of elegance, authenticity and contemporary living.”

The film brings together JAL's design-led approach to contemporary living with Wamiqa's effortless, authentic persona and strong pan-India appeal. Her understated sense of style complements JAL's philosophy of thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship and functionality, creating a natural synergy that goes beyond brand visibility to reflect a shared appreciation for simplicity, attention to detail and spaces that balance aesthetics with purpose. At its core, the film reinforces JAL's positioning as an upper-mid segment brand that delivers aesthetically appealing, quality products while ensuring customers get genuine value for every rupee spent.

Mr. Vivek Kapoor, Director, JAL Bath Fittings, added, “This partnership is a reflection of where JAL is headed. We are not just growing as a brand; we are evolving the conversation around what premium bathroom design means for Indian homes. Wamiqa is the right person to be part of that story.”

Commenting on the association, Ms. Wamiqa Gabbi said, “I have always believed that the spaces we live in say a lot about who we are. JAL creates products that are beautiful, simple, and built to last, and that resonates deeply with me. I am genuinely proud to be associated with a brand that shares those values.”

This comes at a time when Indian homeowners are increasingly viewing bathrooms as an extension of their personal style, rather than purely functional spaces. Through the partnership with Wamiqa, JAL aims to strengthen its presence within this evolving lifestyle narrative, connecting premium bathroom design with the aspirations of consumers who seek modern, considered and personalised living spaces.

As part of the campaign, Wamiqa will feature across JAL’s brand communication spanning print and outdoor platforms, building on the narrative introduced through the new digital film. The association will enable JAL to deepen its engagement with contemporary consumers across markets while bringing its 37-year legacy of design and craftsmanship to a wider audience.

AI vs AI: How the Cybersecurity Battlefield Is Changing — and Why Delhi-NCR Is Part of the Conversation

For years, cybersecurity was largely understood as a technical
discipline.

The people most closely associated with it were penetration testers,
network security engineers, incident responders, researchers and security
operations teams. Their work focused on vulnerabilities, malware,
infrastructure and the technologies used to protect organizations.

That picture has changed.

Cybersecurity now sits at the intersection of technology, business,
regulation, risk and increasingly artificial intelligence. A security incident
can affect not only an organization's IT infrastructure but also its customers,
operations, reputation and regulatory responsibilities.

Artificial intelligence is accelerating that change.

AI is being used to analyse security events, automate investigations
and assist defenders, while attackers are experimenting with the same
technology to scale reconnaissance, social engineering and other offensive
activities.

The result is an environment where the traditional distinction between
attacker, defender and technology is becoming increasingly blurred.

It is also changing the nature of cybersecurity events in India.

From a technical community to a broader security ecosystem

The evolution can be seen in the people now participating in
cybersecurity discussions.

A modern cybersecurity conference in Delhi is no longer
necessarily a room filled only with security engineers and ethical hackers.
Discussions increasingly involve CISOs, enterprise architects, risk
professionals, technology leaders, researchers, legal experts and people
working on AI governance.

The upcoming CIA Conference (CIACON 2026) reflects this wider
ecosystem.

Its speaker lineup includes professionals working across offensive
security, enterprise security, cloud architecture, risk, compliance, AI
governance, malware research, cyber law and CISO leadership.

Among them are Rakshit Tandon, a national cybersecurity expert;
Nipun Jaswal, Senior Director and Global Capability Leader – Offensive
Security at NTT DATA; and Sushil Dash, Enterprise Architect and Red
Teaming Expert.

The enterprise security perspective includes Swati Anuj Arya,
Vice President & Global BISO at S&P Global, Adish Jain, AVP
& CISO at Pe, and Harish Goel, Senior Director – IT Security &
Compliance at Publicis Groupe.

The lineup also includes architecture and infrastructure professionals
such as Gaurav Wadhwa, Director – Enterprise Security Architecture at
Tata Digital, Gunjan Chhillar, Cloud Solutions Architect – India &
SAARC, and Anuj Sharma, Solution Architecture at AVM Consulting Inc.

The range is revealing.

Cybersecurity is no longer being discussed from a single point of
view.

Why Delhi-NCR matters

Delhi, Gurugram and Noida form a closely connected business and
technology ecosystem, bringing together IT companies, multinational
organizations, technology services and enterprise operations.

That makes the region a natural setting for cybersecurity discussions.
Organizations across NCR are dealing with cloud infrastructure, digital
platforms, connected systems and increasingly AI-enabled technologies—creating
security challenges that span technical, business and governance functions.

For a cybersecurity conference in Delhi, this diversity is
particularly relevant. CISOs, security architects, offensive-security
professionals, risk leaders and AI governance specialists often approach the
same problem from very different perspectives.

The CISO's role has changed

The growing presence of CISOs and senior security professionals
reflects a larger change inside organizations.

A CISO today may be involved in questions extending well beyond
security operations.

Should an organization adopt a particular AI technology?

How should access to sensitive systems be controlled?

What is the business impact of a vulnerability?

How should an organization respond to a major cyber incident?

How should security and compliance requirements be balanced with
business objectives?

The speaker lineup reflects these overlapping responsibilities.

Dr. Sushil Meher, Health IT & CISO at AIIMS, Prakash
Kumar Ranjan, CISO & DPO at Sarman Capital Limited, and Ummed Meel,
Director – Cyber and IT Risk at Grant Thornton Bharat, represent different
perspectives on enterprise security, risk and governance.

Cybersecurity decisions are increasingly business decisions.

AI is creating another security layer

Artificial intelligence is changing cybersecurity from both sides.
Organizations are using AI across applications, analytics and business
processes, while attackers are exploring techniques such as prompt injection
and autonomous attacks.

This creates new security questions around AI permissions,
monitoring, manipulation and accountability—particularly as AI systems
begin interacting with enterprise data and infrastructure.

The “AI vs AI” theme at CIACON 2026 reflects this shift,
bringing AI security, agentic AI and governance into the wider cybersecurity
conversation.

The customer-led initiative took the New Holland 3630 TX Super Plus+ closer to farming communities across Haryana and Punjab through customer interactions, field engagements, tractor rallies and product showcases.

Connected over 1,500 farmers across Haryana and Punjab while generating more than 35 lakh organic digital views through Rocky Shahpuria and regional influencer collaborations.

Brought alive the spirit of 'Zindagi Super Plus', the philosophy behind the New Holland 3630 TX Super Plus+.

New Holland, a brand of CNH, has successfully completed its unique farmer-to-farmer engagement initiative, ‘Super Safar’, a journey that celebrated the trust, experiences and aspirations of farmers across Haryana and Punjab. Led by New Holland customer and digital creator Rocky Shahpuria, the campaign took the New Holland 3630 TX Super Plus+ directly into farming communities, creating meaningful interactions with over 1,500 farmers through customer meets, field engagements, tractor rallies and dealership activations.

New Holland brings ‘Super Safar’ to Haryana and Punjab, celebrating a customer-led journey

Spanning over 500 km, the campaign covered more than 10 districts across key agricultural markets in Haryana and Punjab. The customized 3630 Super Plus+ caravan travelled through Gohana, Jind, Narwana, Patran/Moonak, Sangrur/Sunam, Barnala, Jagraon, Nakodar/Jalandhar and Amritsar. The campaign highlighted the 3630 TX Super Plus+ proposition across key pillars including Performance+, Power+, Savings+, Service+, Style+ and Safety+, while reinforcing the brand philosophy of 'Zindagi Super Plus', which reflects New Holland's commitment to helping farmers achieve more in every aspect of their lives.

What made the initiative particularly unique was Rocky Shahpuria's deep association with the New Holland 3630 TX Super Plus+. Known for his travel-focused content and long-distance journeys, Rocky transformed his own 3630 TX Super Plus+ into a customized caravan and undertook the journey across Haryana and Punjab aboard the tractor itself. His decision to use the tractor as a travel companion reflects the confidence, comfort and trust he has developed in the machine through real-world usage. The campaign therefore went beyond a conventional brand association, showcasing an authentic customer experience that resonated strongly with farming communities.

Commenting on the initiative, Tarun Khanna, Director – Marketing (AG) India, New Holland, said, "At New Holland, we believe the strongest endorsement of a tractor comes from the farmers who use it every day. Rocky's decision to convert his own 3630 TX Super Plus+ into a travelling caravan and take it directly to farming communities made this initiative especially authentic, as it reflected genuine customer confidence in the product. Through Super Safar, the journey brought alive the spirit of 'Zindagi Super Plus' by showcasing how the 3630 Tx Super Plus+ contributes to farmers' aspirations, livelihoods and everyday success."

Rocky Shahpuria, New Holland Customer & Influencer, said, "The New Holland 3630 TX Super Plus has been a trusted companion in my journey. When I decided to convert my tractor into a customized caravan and travel with it, I wanted to demonstrate my confidence in the machine beyond the farm. Through Super Safar, I had the opportunity to meet fellow farmers, hear their stories and share my own experience with a tractor that has become an integral part of my life. The response from farmers across Haryana and Punjab has been truly overwhelming."

Haryana and Punjab remain important markets for New Holland, with their strong agricultural base and high levels of farm mechanization making them strategically significant to the brand’s growth and customer engagement agenda. The region also represents a diverse set of farming requirements, from field preparation and sowing to haulage and other agricultural applications, creating a strong environment to demonstrate the versatility and performance of the 3630 TX Super Plus+

PayU, India's leading diversified fintech platform, unveiled its AI-powered Fraud Liability Protect (FLP) solution for Indian merchants accepting international card payments at the Global Fintech Fest 2026. PayU’s FLP solution offers risk and liability protection against modern-day AI scams and eligible fraud chargebacks for cross-border card payments through AI and risk-based decisioning, enabling safer and higher payments conversions for merchants.

Surge in international payments today is accompanied by its share of sophisticated AI frauds, including chargebacks. While stronger fraud controls can add authentication friction and affect legitimate payment conversions, lighter controls can increase exposure to fraud and revenue losses. Designed specifically to address both these challenges, PayU’s Fraud Liability Protect solution combines three core capabilities:

AI/ML-powered risk assessment that evaluates every international card payment against multiple transaction and behavioral signals.

Dynamic risk-based authentication that determines the appropriate level of authentication needed. Low-risk transactions are generally processed without friction, but higher-risk transactions are routed through stringent authentication

Fraud liability protection that covers merchants from unwarranted fraud chargebacks, in turn protecting their revenues from international card fraud

“Fraud protection should not come at the cost of payment acceptance, especially as Indian merchants scale across geographies. With scams becoming more sophisticated and harder to detect amid the rise of AI, PayU’s Fraud Liability Protect is designed to safeguard Indian merchants against both human-initiated and AI-enabled fraud. By combining AI and risk-based decisioning, FLP helps identify genuine and risky international transactions, protecting merchants from cross-border payment scams and fraud chargebacks while helping secure their revenues and reputation. Across PayU merchants, we’re already seeing an approx. 4–5% improvement in international card payment success rates, alongside a significant reduction in fraud exposure,” said Manas Mishra, Chief Product Officer, PayU and Wibmo.

PayU’s Fraud Liability Protect is particularly relevant for Indian SMB merchants operating in segments like travel and online travel agencies, airlines, e-commerce, quick commerce and food-tech, where cross-border payment decline and frauds can have direct impact on revenue, due to loss of customer trust and experience. The solution has already begun witnessing positive outcomes for PayU merchants, given its seamless integration capabilities with PayU Checkout. A prominent online travel merchant recorded a 14% improvement in payment success rates alongside an 83% reduction in fraud-to-sales ratio, after PayU’s FLP adoption. Also, Zomato, one of India’s food ordering and delivery platforms, uses PayU’s FLP solution to offer customers a more reliable payment experience while maintaining appropriate controls for higher-risk international transactions.

From 1980 to 2026: The Evolution of IHR and Reproductive Healthcare in Northeast India

In 1980, specialised fertility care was still a developing field in
India, and access to reproductive healthcare in the Northeast was limited. It
was in this setting that the Institute of Human Reproduction
(IHR) was established at Bharalumukh, Guwahati, by
the late Dr M. L. Goenka. His vision was
straightforward but ambitious: to provide comprehensive, personalised
healthcare for couples dealing with infertility and for women facing high-risk
pregnancies.

More than four decades later, IHR continues to operate from
Bharalumukh, but the institution itself has changed considerably. What began
with a small team providing essential healthcare services has grown into a multidisciplinary
centre covering reproductive medicine, fertility treatment, maternity care,
gynaecology, neonatal and paediatric care, diagnostics and related surgical
services.

A Journey That Began in 1980

IHR’s early years were built around a specific healthcare need.
Infertility management and specialised maternal care were not as widely
accessible in the region as they are today. The institution was created to
address that gap, with reproductive health, infertility and mother-and-child
care at the centre of its work.

Its development was gradual. As medical practice evolved, IHR added
doctors, nurses, technicians, departments and specialised facilities. Rather
than remaining solely a fertility clinic, it expanded its scope alongside the
needs of the patients it served.

One of the most important moments in that journey came on 7 July
1995, when IHR pioneered the test-tube baby programme in Northeast India.
The milestone marked a significant development for assisted reproductive
medicine in the region and positioned Guwahati as a place where patients could
access a form of fertility treatment that had previously been difficult to
obtain locally.

Two years later, in 1997, IHR established what it identifies as
the first semen bank in Northeast India. These developments formed part of the
institution’s early work in assisted reproduction and were followed over time
by the adoption of newer fertility procedures, laboratory practices and
reproductive technologies.

From IVF to Continuity of Care

Today, the range of services at IHR extends well beyond IVF. Its
reproductive medicine services include IUI, ICSI, fertility preservation,
cryopreservation of eggs, sperm and embryos, and genetic testing procedures
such as PGT, PGS and PGD. The institute also provides laparoscopy and
hysteroscopy, along with other fertility-related procedures and surgeries.

The wider hospital setup includes obstetrics, high-risk pregnancy
care, gynaecology, labour and delivery, paediatrics and neonatology, NICU and
PICU facilities, pathology and diagnostic services, imaging, pharmacy and
general and advanced laparoscopic surgery.

This breadth is particularly relevant in reproductive healthcare
because treatment does not necessarily end when conception occurs. For patients
who require it, the presence of fertility, maternity, high-risk pregnancy and
newborn-care services within the same institution can provide continuity from
fertility treatment through pregnancy and childbirth.

The physical and clinical infrastructure has developed alongside these
services. IHR currently reports three major operation theatres, including a
dedicated endoscopy theatre, as well as a minor operation theatre. Its
fertility infrastructure includes a Class 10,000 IVF laboratory and facilities
for IVF-ET and ICSI. The hospital also has an in-house pathology laboratory,
NICU and PICU facilities, five ultrasound machines, digital X-ray and a 24-hour
pharmacy.

More Than 30,000 IVF Journeys

The scale of IHR’s work is also reflected in the figures provided by
the institution. IHR states that it has completed more than 30,000 IVF
cycles and has been associated with more than 50,000 deliveries over
the years.

It further explains that the “30,000+ IVF success stories” referenced
by the institution represent more than 30,000 couples who completed their IVF
journey and took their babies home following treatment at IHR.

Patients have not come only from Guwahati. According to IHR, people
travel to the institute from across Assam and other Northeastern states, including
Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh. It has
also treated patients from elsewhere in India and from countries including
Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, the United States and Australia, as well as Dubai.

The institution does not currently provide a verified state-wise or
country-wise breakdown of this patient population, so its geographic reach is
better understood as an indication of where patients have travelled from rather
than a quantified distribution.

Keeping Pace With Reproductive Medicine

Reproductive medicine has changed substantially since IHR opened its
doors in 1980. The institution attributes its longevity partly to its continued
adoption of newer treatment protocols, laboratory practices

Bengaluru Friday 11 September 2026 : The Honourable Minister for Sugar and Textile, Government of Karnataka, Sri.
Rudrappa Manappa Lamani, today inaugurated “Threads of India,” a campaign
initiative by LuLu Mall Rajajinagar, Bengaluru, dedicated to India’s handloom
weaving heritage. The Minister was hosted by Mr. Noman Aziz Khan, Director,
LuLu Group Karnataka, collaboration with Government Sri Krishnarajendra Silver
Jubilee Technological Institute, Happy Hearts & Co., JD Institute of
Fashion Technology, JD School of Design, and Avantra, each contributing
curation, design, and craft expertise to the exhibition. This exhibition is
happening at LuLu Mall Rajajinagar, Bengaluru, from 3rd to 13th September,

“It is heartening to see an event like this being hosted at LuLu Mall
Rajajinagar, Bengaluru a space that brings everyone together, from families and
young shoppers to our artisans and weavers, Initiatives
like Threads of India give our weaving communities the visibility and
recognition they deserve, right in the heart of the city.” said Mr.
Rudrappa Lamani, Honourable Minister for Sugar and Textiles, Government of
Karnataka.

For most shoppers and particularly for a generation that has grown up
with fast fashion and ready made garments, the sheer labour behind a handwoven
saree is invisible, the throw of the shuttle, the hours of warping and dressing
the loom, the calculations behind a single motif repeated a thousand times
across a six yard length. By giving working looms and artisans space at one of
Bengaluru’s busiest retail destinations, LuLu Mall Rajajinagar has made that
process visible to thousands of visitors who would otherwise never encounter it
turning a walk through the mall into an unplanned lesson in craft history.

“Threads of India is LuLu Mall Rajajinagar’s own campaign initiative,
and the idea was simple to give this traditional craft a stage it doesn’t
normally get. A lot of young shoppers have never seen a handloom in motion.
At its heart, this is about empowering culture, craft and community giving our weavers a platform to be seen and
heard, not just their products. Over the course of the exhibition, we’ve seen
wonderful interaction and engagement between visitors and the weavers
themselves, with people stopping to ask questions, watch the process, and
understand the story behind every thread. That exchange is what has made this
campaign truly successful, and it’s something we hope to keep building on.”.”
Said Mr Noman Aziz Khan, Director of LuLu Group Karnataka

In a gesture that captured the spirit of the campaign, the weavers
presented LuLu Mall Rajajinagar, with a token of love woven entirely by hand on
the loom, with “Threads of India” and the exhibition dates inscribed into the
silk itself. The piece was handwoven by the artisans in a single night, worked
on the same traditional handlooms on display at the exhibition a small but
telling reminder of the skill and dedication behind every handwoven textile on
show.

The exhibition walks visitors through the full arc of the handloom
story, pit looms, frame looms and charkhas set up exactly as they would be in a
weaver’s home; skeins of dyed yarn and the tools used for warping, sizing and shuttle
winding and a curated line up of finished pieces of sarees styled on mannequins
alongside the machines that made them.

How Reproductive Medicine Is Changing in Northeast India: Dr Deepak Goenka on the Evolution of Fertility Care

Over the last two decades, fertility care in Northeast India has
changed in ways that are visible not only in laboratories and treatment
options, but also in the people seeking help. At the Institute of Human
Reproduction (IHR), Guwahati, Dr Deepak Goenka
has watched that shift. Associated with IHR since 2000, he is Director and Head
of the Department of Reproductive Medicine, with his practice spanning
reproductive medicine and infertility, obstetrics and gynaecology.

Fertility Patients Are Getting Older

One of the clearest changes has been the age of women approaching
fertility specialists. Around 20 years ago, the average female partner seeking
fertility treatment at IHR was generally between 25 and 30 years old. Today,
the institute increasingly sees women in the 35–40 age group.

IHR associates this shift with later marriages, delayed childbearing,
career priorities, and changing social choices. Clinically, age matters because
ovarian reserve and egg quality decline over time. Reproductive medicine now
offers couples more options than it once did, but awareness of age-related
fertility decline and timely family planning remains important.

Infertility Is Not Just a Women’s Health Issue

The infertility profile seen at IHR is also varied. The team reports
male-factor infertility, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and diminished
ovarian reserve among common patterns. Poor ovarian reserve and reduced egg
quality are being observed particularly in women seeking pregnancy at a later
age.

A persistent misconception is that infertility automatically indicates
a problem with the woman. In practice, male-factor infertility is an important
part of fertility evaluation.

Why Both Partners Need to Be Evaluated

Rather than beginning with assumptions about either partner, fertility assessment
needs to consider both. IHR offers procedures including ICSI and TESA in
relevant male-factor cases, alongside genetic and fertility-preservation
services.

IVF itself is surrounded by misconceptions. It
does not guarantee pregnancy or a live birth; it is not always the first
treatment for infertility, and it is not intended only for older couples.
Similarly, transferring more embryos does not necessarily produce a better
outcome.

Treatment depends on the case, including age, ovarian reserve, sperm
parameters, medical history, and previous treatment.

IVF Has Changed — and So Has the Way It Is Used

The technology available to fertility specialists has changed
substantially during Dr Goenka’s career. Advances listed by IHR include ICSI,
improved embryo culture and blastocyst development, vitrification and modern
cryopreservation, preimplantation genetic testing, next-generation sequencing,
non-invasive chromosomal screening, fertility preservation and more precise
ovarian-stimulation and embryo-transfer strategies.

IHR states that it has offered PGT-A since 2009 and later introduced
non-invasive chromosomal screening, or NICS, in Northeast India under the
guidance of Dr Goenka and Chief Embryologist Rashmi Goenka. Dr Goenka has also
written publicly about the potential role of NICS in embryo selection.

From Standard Protocols to Personalised Fertility Treatment

Modern IVF increasingly takes the individual patient’s reproductive
and medical profile into account rather than applying the same protocol to
every couple.

Age, ovarian reserve, sperm parameters, previous IVF outcomes, embryo
development, genetic risk and medical history can all influence the treatment
strategy. Depending on circumstances, IHR currently provides IVF, ICSI, genetic
testing, fertility preservation, cryopreservation and donor programmes.

The Growing Role of Genetics and Fertility Preservation

Genetics and preservation have become important parts of modern
reproductive medicine. In appropriate cases, genetic testing can help identify
chromosomal abnormalities or specific inherited conditions.

Fertility preservation, meanwhile, can involve freezing eggs, sperm or
embryos for possible future treatment. Cryopreservation therefore has a role
beyond an individual IVF cycle, allowing reproductive material to be stored
where clinically appropriate.

For couples considering treatment, these developments expand the
available options, but they do not replace diagnosis. The choice of treatment
still begins with understanding why conception has not occurred.

Northeast India Has Made Progress, but Access Gaps Remain

Access to specialised reproductive medicine in Northeast India has
improved as ART facilities have developed within the region. IHR currently
provides IVF, ICSI, IUI, genetic testing, fertility preservation,
cryopreservation, laparoscopy and hysteroscopy in Guwahati.

Yet access to technology does not resolve every challenge. IHR
identifies lack of awareness, delayed referral, and limited insurance coverage
as important concerns in Assam and the Northeast. Some patients reach fertility
specialists later, when age-related decline or underlying

Piston Raises USD 15 Million to Scale the Infrastructure Layer for Logistics Commerce

Piston, a cardless payments platform that connects commercial fleets and gas stations, today announced it has raised USD 15 million in Series A funding. FPV Ventures led the round, with participation from existing investors Spark Capital and Pear VC. The financing brings Piston's total capital raised to USD 22.5 million.

Piston co-founders Vikram Sekhon and Shivam Shah raise USD 15M in Series A funding, led by FPV Ventures, to scale cardless payments and logistics infrastructure across the U.S.

The round follows a year of rapid growth for Piston. Payment volume increased 8x year over year, while its merchant network grew 40x and customer retention remained at 98%. Piston is now deployed at more than 2,000 stations across 48 states. Its point-of-sale integrations are also certified and live across systems covering more than 95% of U.S. merchant fuel sites.

"Commercial fuel still runs on payment technology built for another era," said Vikram Sekhon, Co-founder and CEO of Piston. "Fleet fuel fraud is a physical card problem, disguised as a detection issue. We removed the card and built a network that authorizes every purchase for a specific driver and vehicle at the point of sale. This round lets us expand that infrastructure until no commercial driver has to ask whether a station accepts Piston."

The more than USD 900 billion trucking industry still relies heavily on payment infrastructure built around physical cards. For fleets, that can mean persistent fraud, limited visibility into spending, and time-consuming reconciliation. Now, Piston offers fleet owners real-time visibility into fuel spending as it happens, without issuing or managing physical cards. And merchants gain direct access to commercial fuel demand, lower transaction costs, and the opportunity to capture the in-store purchases that come with repeat fleet traffic.

The two-sided network was built from firsthand experience. Vikram and co-founder Shivam Shah previously operated fleets and dealt directly with fuel-card fraud, hidden costs, and administrative burden. Sekhon's fleet remains the first environment in which Piston validates and tests new features.

Piston's India presence has also grown alongside the company's expansion in the U.S. Its Kolkata office, which was launched in April 2023 with a team of five, has since grown into a 25+ member hub and is home to the company's entire engineering team. The Kolkata team plays a central role in building and scaling the technology infrastructure that powers Piston's payments network across the U.S.

"Fuel is one of the largest B2B spend categories in America, and every transaction still runs through decades-old card infrastructure,” said Nikunj Kothari, Partner at FPV Ventures. “Piston moves that money over its own rails, with no card networks or intermediaries in between. Vikram ran hundreds of trucks and felt this pain every day, and Shivam recruited thousands of drivers before they wrote a line of code. This is a new payment network in a massive market, built by the people who actually lived the problem."

Piston is also extending its real-time controls with two AI products. Piston Guard evaluates each transaction for anomalies and can flag or block suspected fraudulent spending before it is completed. The Piston Analytics Agent allows fleet owners to better understand their spending data and uncover patterns without spending hours on manual analysis.

"Vikram and Shivam understood this market from the operator's seat before they ever approached it as founders," said Shravan Reddy, Partner at Pear VC. “Piston has translated that insight into exceptional growth, strong retention, and a network that creates value for both fleets and merchants. We are proud to continue backing the company in its next growth phase."

Piston will use the new capital to accelerate the national build-out of its payments network, advance product development, and add senior leaders across key areas of the business. Over the next 18 months, the company aims to establish coverage across every U.S. region. The expansion will also lay the groundwork for Piston to move beyond fuel into broader logistics payments infrastructure.

The Series A also marks the next phase of Piston's India story: a company serving a highly specialized U.S. logistics market while building its core technology from Kolkata. As Piston scales its payments network nationally, its Kolkata engineering team will continue to be central to the product and technology roadmap.

	About Piston

In an unprecedented initiative bringing together top medical
leadership to address the pre-symptomatic windows of chronic illness, ODDS
Longevity today announced ‘The Silent Decade: Quantifying Health,
Performance & Longevity.’ This closed-door, invite-only gathering will
take place on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in New Delhi.

Long before a diagnosis arrives, the body is already telling a
measurable story. The 30s and 40s often mark a critical decade when underlying
shifts in metabolic and mechanical health begin to take shape, quietly, without
visible symptoms. This is the ‘Silent Decade’, and it is here that early
insight into your body's trajectory can make the difference between managing
disease later and rewriting its course now.

That premise will anchor the afternoon: clinical science,
data-driven insights and everyday lifestyle solutions brought into a single
conversation about what actually builds a longer, healthier life. The
symposium will feature leading cardiologists, endocrinologists and
orthopaedists alongside specialists in nutrition, sports science, movement,
Pilates, performance and emerging biohacking practices. A deliberately wide
lens addressing the foundation of longevity. If you’re interested in longevity
and preventive health, Inquire more at bit.ly/46bY7YJ

The afternoon is built around two key longevity discussions:

● The
first, ODDS MAQ™: The Mechanical Health Conversation, will be led by
Padma Shri awardee Dr Ashok Rajgopal, Chairman of Orthopaedics at Medanta,
alongside Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Sports
Scientist Asad Hussain. The
discussion will explore how mechanical ageing can be quantified and identify
subtle losses in strength, movement and functional capacity long before they
progress toward disability.

● The
second, ODDS AXION™: The Cardiometabolic Conversation will turn to the
gap between being clinically ‘within range’ and being individually optimal. The
panel will bring together Padma Shri Dr Praveen Chandra, Chairman of Cardiology
at Medanta; Dr Dheeraj Kapoor, Director of Endocrinology at Artemis Hospitals;
Dr Arjun Dang, CEO of Dr Dang's Lab; and Founder of Odds Longevity, Asad
Hussain.

● The
third, Wellness Panel: Lifestyle Solutions and the evolving role
of holistic wellbeing and longevity in enabling people to live better and
healthier lives. The panel will bring together Biohacker Tanya Malik
Chawla. Wellness Expert Mini Shastri and Founder of ODDS Longevity, Asad
Hussain.

Where the first conversation asks how well the body still moves, the
second asks how well it still runs. Together making the case that longevity isn't
defined by any single metric, but by the interplay of medical health,
nutrition, movement, recovery and daily lifestyle choices.

A central highlight of the symposium will be ‘From Data to
Outcomes,’ a clinical case study showcasing how early physiological changes
can be measured through ODDS’s proprietary QHP™ and translated into measurable,
real-world outcomes.

Asad Hussain notes, “The foundation of modern longevity medicine
rests on identifying physiological shifts long before they express as disease. ‘The
Silent Decade’ represents that crucial timeframe where proactive measurement
can fundamentally alter health trajectories.”

Through these conversations and clinical insights, the symposium aims
to move the dialogue from reactive treatment toward a more precise,
outcome-driven approach to longevity science. One where prevention is grounded
in data rather than guesswork.

The symposium will conclude with high tea, networking and live
longevity assessments, offering attendees an opportunity to engage with the
ideas discussed and experience measurable approaches to longevity firsthand.

Chitkara Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CCIE), Chitkara University, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chandigarh Angels Network (CAN) to strengthen the entrepreneurial journey of student and alumni founders and create structured pathways from startup creation to investment readiness.

Chitkara University and Chandigarh Angels Network ink MoU to empower student-led Deep-tech & innovative Startups

The collaboration will provide aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs with greater access to experienced mentors, investors and industry practitioners. As part of the partnership, quarterly pitching sessions will be organised for deep-tech and AI focused student startups, giving emerging founders a regular platform to present their ventures, demonstrate their solutions, receive investor feedback and explore potential funding opportunities.

Through these structured engagements, student founders will gain exposure to the expectations of the investment community while developing their ability to articulate their business models, market opportunities, technology propositions, scalability and growth potential.

With a network of more than 70 investors, a portfolio spanning 46 companies and over seven successful exits, Chandigarh Angels Network brings considerable investment and operating experience to the partnership. Its engagement with Chitkara University will add an important investor-facing dimension to the University's entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Commenting on the collaboration, Dr Madhu Chitkara, President and Co-Founder, Chitkara University, said, “A strong entrepreneurial ecosystem is built by creating meaningful opportunities for young founders to learn, test, present and grow. Our collaboration with Chandigarh Angels Network will help our student and alumni entrepreneurs move beyond developing promising ideas towards building ventures that are capable of creating sustained value. The quarterly pitching sessions, particularly for our deep-tech and AI innovators, will give them an opportunity to engage directly with investors, understand what makes a venture investment-ready and learn from experienced professionals. We believe that access to the right ecosystem at the right stage can significantly shape the journey of a founder.”

The quarterly pitching sessions will serve as a recurring founder–investor interface, enabling promising deep-tech and AI ventures from Chitkara University to showcase their work to members of CAN's investor network. The sessions will also create opportunities for constructive feedback, mentorship and potential investor engagement.

The partnership will further focus on structured mentorship, investor interactions, pitch opportunities and exposure to market-oriented perspectives. It will enable entrepreneurs to better understand the fundamentals of building scalable and sustainable ventures while giving investors greater visibility into emerging technologies and solutions being developed within the University ecosystem.

The collaboration reflects Chitkara University's continued emphasis on entrepreneurship as an integral part of higher education, where students are encouraged not only to develop ideas but also to validate them, build viable ventures and engage with the larger innovation and investment ecosystem.

Through CCIE, the University has been building an ecosystem that brings together student innovators, founders, mentors, industry experts and investors. The association with Chandigarh Angels Network further strengthens this ecosystem by creating a direct interface between emerging founders and the investment community.

The partnership is expected to contribute to a more connected entrepreneurship ecosystem at Chitkara University, enabling student and alumni founders to move with greater clarity from idea to venture, venture to market, and market to investment.

M3M Foundation Supports Kamya Bhardwaj Through 'Samudra Se Shikhar Tak' to Take on the Oceans Seven

M3M Foundation has come forward to support young open-water swimmer Kamya Bhardwaj in her quest to conquer the Oceans Seven, launching ‘Samudra Se Shikhar Tak’ under its Lakshya programme as a dedicated initiative for her historic journey.

M3M Foundation supports Kamya Bhardwaj through Samudra Se Shikhar Tak on the Oceans Seven

Beginning with the iconic English Channel, Kamya will take on seven of the world’s most challenging open-water crossings in her pursuit of becoming the first Indian woman to complete the Oceans Seven. M3M Foundation will support her throughout this journey and is also launching a donation and partnership campaign, inviting individuals, institutions and organisations to become part of this landmark endeavour.

The Oceans Seven is considered one of the ultimate challenges in open-water swimming, demanding exceptional physical endurance, mental resilience, technical preparation and the ability to navigate unpredictable currents, temperatures, tides and weather conditions. Kamya enters this challenge with a strong record of endurance, including her world record-setting double crossing of the Palk Strait, swimming from India to Sri Lanka and back non-stop in 18 hours and 15 minutes.

However, ‘Samudra Se Shikhar Tak’ is envisioned as a journey with a purpose far beyond a sporting achievement. Through Kamya’s endeavour, the initiative aims to encourage more girls and women to pursue sport and challenge conventional boundaries; inspire young people to embrace resilience, courage and perseverance; raise awareness about the importance of clean and healthy water bodies; and encourage the next generation of swimmers to dream bigger and pursue excellence.

The initiative is a reflection of M3M Foundation’s commitment to nurturing exceptional young talent through its Lakshya programme and creating the support systems needed to help ambitious individuals realise their potential. Through ‘Samudra Se Shikhar Tak’, the Foundation will provide comprehensive support for the requirements of Kamya’s campaign, including training, sports science, medical assessments, nutrition, recovery, technical preparation, safety, logistics and international travel.

Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Payal Kanodia, Chairperson & Trustee, M3M Foundation, said, “Having been a sportsperson myself, I understand the discipline, challenges and support required to pursue excellence in sport. Women, in particular, need stronger platforms and encouragement to pursue ambitious sporting dreams. Kamya’s Oceans Seven journey is a remarkable example of courage and perseverance, and through ‘Samudra Se Shikhar Tak’, under our Lakshya programme, we are proud to stand behind her and inspire many more young women to believe that no sporting dream is beyond their reach.”

As part of the initiative, M3M Foundation is opening ‘Samudra Se Shikhar Tak’ to public participation through a donation and partnership campaign. Supporters can join the journey as a Journey Partner, supporting the wider campaign; an Ocean Partner, supporting a specific crossing; or a Kilometre Partner, sponsoring one or more kilometres of the campaign. Reinforcing its own commitment to the mission, M3M Foundation will support every fifth kilometre Kamya swims,

standing alongside her as she takes on each stage of this extraordinary challenge. Through this collective effort, the initiative seeks to bring people together behind a journey that embodies sporting excellence, women’s empowerment, environmental responsibility and the aspirations of India’s future swimmers.

With the English Channel marking the beginning of her Oceans Seven campaign, Kamya is preparing to take on a challenge that could create a defining moment for Indian open-water swimming.

‘Samudra Se Shikhar Tak’ is not just about reaching the other shore. It is about showing how far courage can take you, and how one extraordinary journey can inspire many more to begin their own.

One swimmer. Seven crossings. A journey to make history.

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University, has been contributing to growing engagement with New South Wales (NSW) through its expanding network of academic and research partnerships. MAHE currently maintains active collaborations with five universities in New South Wales: the University of Sydney, UNSW Sydney, Macquarie University, the University of Technology Sydney and Western Sydney University. These collaborations span academic and research activities, as well as student and faculty mobility.

Representatives of the NSW Government and MAHE at the NSW Government’s India Mission reception in Mumbai

The New South Wales (NSW) Government’s India Mission, held from 31 August to 3 September 2026, strengthened the state’s engagement with India across the economy, education, research, innovation, and culture, and created new opportunities for sustained partnerships among governments, institutions, industry, and communities.

Led by The Honourable Chris Minns MP, Premier of NSW, and The Honourable Daniel Mookhey MLC, NSW Treasurer, the mission convened senior government officials, policymakers, academics, industry leaders, and other stakeholders from New South Wales and India to explore opportunities for stronger bilateral cooperation.

As part of the mission, the NSW Government hosted a special reception at The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai, convening the Premier and Treasurer of NSW with government leaders, senior officials and policymakers from India, along with members of the official NSW delegation. The reception provided an important platform for dialogue and identifying opportunities for greater cooperation across priority sectors.

A significant institutional outcome of the mission was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MAHE and the University of Sydney (USYD) on 2 September 2026 to strengthen cooperation in education, research, innovation and international mobility. The MAHE and USYD delegations subsequently attended the Mumbai reception, where the partnership was formally announced in the presence of the NSW Premier and Treasurer.

The partnership aligns with the broader objectives of the NSW Government’s India Mission by translating government-level engagement into tangible institutional collaboration. It also demonstrates universities’ role in building sustained connections between New South Wales and India through academic exchange, collaborative research, innovation and mobility.

Dr Sharath K. Rao, Vice Chancellor, MAHE, said, “The NSW Government’s India Mission provides an important platform for strengthening the longstanding ties between New South Wales and India. Education, research and innovation can play a defining role in building deeper, more sustainable relationships between our two regions. MAHE’s growing partnerships with universities in NSW reflect our commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for students, faculty and researchers to collaborate and exchange knowledge. We look forward to contributing to a stronger India-NSW partnership through sustained academic, research and innovation-led engagement.”

The NSW Government’s India Mission also focused on strengthening economic and industry engagement and on identifying opportunities for investment, trade, innovation, and knowledge exchange. It underscores the importance of higher education and research partnerships in supporting the long-term objectives of the NSW-India relationship.
