Khavda IVC Power Transmission Ltd Empowers Women Through a Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Initiative in Kaprada

Over 113 women and community members participate in meaningful conversations on menstrual hygiene

Valsad (Gujarat) [India], May 30: Reinforcing its commitment towards community welfare, women empowerment, and health awareness, Khavda IVC Power Transmission Ltd successfully organised a Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Program on the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day at the Resonia Sanitary Pad Making Unit in Kaprada, Valsad.

The initiative was conducted with the objective of breaking long-standing social taboos surrounding menstruation and encouraging women to openly discuss menstrual health with dignity and confidence. The event witnessed active participation from 113 community members, including ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, members of the BAIF Federation, and women from the local BFC community.

The awareness program commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolising hope, knowledge, and empowerment. This was followed by an engaging assessment activity using question papers, along with an interactive Q&A session that encouraged participation and dialogue among attendees.

A specially curated awareness film screening and training session on menstrual hygiene and health educated participants about safe hygiene practices, menstrual care, and the importance of overall women’s health. The session also highlighted how awareness and access to hygiene can positively impact confidence, education, and quality of life for women and young girls.

One of the most emotional and impactful segments of the program was the “Meri Kahani Circle,” where women were provided with a safe and supportive platform to openly share their personal experiences, challenges, and emotions related to menstruation. Many participants spoke candidly for the first time, creating a deeply moving atmosphere of solidarity and understanding.

Carrying forward the powerful message of “#शर्म नहीं, बातें करो”, the initiative encouraged women to normalise conversations around menstruation and eliminate the stigma often associated with it in rural communities.

Speaking about the initiative, Amita Ben, BAIF Federation Lead and Taluka Development Officer, said, “Menstrual hygiene is not only a health issue but also a matter of dignity, confidence, and awareness for every woman and young girl.” Initiatives like these create a safe environment where women can openly express themselves without fear or hesitation. The event concluded with a collective pledge by all participants: “We will never feel ashamed to talk about menstruation and will educate the younger generation about menstrual health and hygiene.”

The initiative had a lasting impact on the participants, many of whom expressed their willingness to continue such discussions in future sessions as well.
